Moreover, inaugurationalism inevitably supplants the cross as the ultimate standard of this age. Instead of God confirming by the Spirit the extension of the mercy of the cross in light of the apocalyptic judgment to come, we are simply left with an ever-increasing extension of divine sovereignty by means of the Spirit.
