Paul similarly reasons in 1 Cor. 6:1–3 and Eph. 5:4–10, since discipleship is inherently bound to destiny—“Walk in a manner worthy of God, who calls you into his own kingdom and glory” (1 Thess. 2:12; cf. Eph. 4:1; Col. 1:10). Peter likewise exhorts: “Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming” (2 Peter 3:11–12, niv; cf. 1 Peter 1:13–16). - John P. Harrigan, the Gospel of Christ Crucified, p.427
