The calloused heart is a fierce and capable foe that must be beaten back daily with the weapon of wondrous, Spirit-filled joy. We must fight for the kind of tenderness of heart that refuses to let the awesome become overfamiliar, and the beautiful become plain. When love grows cold, it doesn't happen all at once. It's the culmination of thousands of small choices to believe the worst about people. -David Sliker

Theology is the equalizer for hopeless intercessors and Christians swayed by every new wind of doctrine. Prayer is the equalizer for intellectuals who have lost the awe and wonder of being in a relationship with their Maker. -Joshua Hawkins

Jesus saw all the way through the Type A, visionary, driven, ambitious young man before Him – and yet He loved him (Mark 10:21). The eyes that see and know everything about you look upon you with everlasting love and great desire. He wants you with Him! -Bob Sorge

It should be as normal for children to hear about the end of the age as it was for Noah's three sons to hear that a flood is coming. -Sarah Edwards

That every man, woman and child would behold Jesus and adore Him: this is the end and the goal of all Christian ministry. -David Sliker
Tuesday, July 09, 2013
It seems that John didn’t earn himself any friends with the priests, when he said his baptism was “for the remission of sins” (Mark 1:4). He claimed his baptism of repentance had powers of remission like unto the temple sacrifices. It was the launch of the Gospel era. -Bob Sorge

The Holy Ghost does not flow through methods, but through men. He does not come on machinery, but on men. He does not anoint plans, but men -men of prayer. -EM Bounds

Longing for Jesus' return is not only apostolic, it's the normative posture for believers in this age. Matthew 9:15 -Billy Humphrey

The indwelling Spirit doesn't alleviate the ache of Jesus' absence. Instead, He actually deepens it. -Joshua Hawkins
Sunday, June 23, 2013
"traveled", "talked", "reclined", "ate" - the descriptions of Jesus after the resurrection are so tangible. "touch Me and see..." Luke 24:39 -Stephen Venable
Saturday, June 22, 2013
What is lacking in many discussions of eschatology is a real yearning to see Jesus and be with Him. This is thoroughly un-apostolic. -Stephen Venable

"Let us never get so wrapped up in counting the pairs of eyes upon us that we miss the only gaze that matters" -Anna Blanc

Wednesday, June 19, 2013
Paul's Acts 17 sermon ends in a call for repentance because Jesus will judge. Many theological errors can be avoided if this is our call too. -Joshua Hawkins
Tuesday, June 18, 2013
Two of three detailed accounts of Jesus appearing after His resurrection describe Him eating food. Incline your ear to what He is saying through this. -Stephen Venable
Monday, June 17, 2013
If Jesus Himself is not the consuming focal point of worship, teaching and community, a "church" risks becoming just a tax exempt social club -Stephen Venable
Sunday, June 16, 2013
What would it have been like to eat a breakfast made by the resurrected Messiah who was Yahweh in the flesh? (John 21:9-14) -Stephen Venable
Saturday, June 15, 2013
For the world, there is no message more offensive than the crucified and resurrected God-Man who has now been appointed as the Earth's Judge.
For the church, there is no message more offensive than the call to pursue the fullness of God in full partnership with the Bridegroom.
Grace is free, and freely given to empower a costly pursuit to experience all that God wants to bring the human heart into in this life. -David Sliker

Fear is a thief. It robbed Peter of a perfectly good walk on water, and kept the eleven in the boat. Fear looks like wisdom to those without risk. -Bill Johnson
Wednesday, June 12, 2013
It takes “all” of Scripture to make the man of God complete (2 Tim 3:16-17). To the degree I neglect portions of Scripture I am incomplete. The man of God, therefore, should be a man of all Scripture. -Bob Sorge

Jesus is greater than I have ever portrayed him to be. -John Piper
Sunday, June 09, 2013
Stephen and John the Baptist could have preserved their lives by keeping their mouths shut when in the presence of adversaries. Someone could say, “Stephen wasn’t a martyr, he brought it on himself.” But faithful witnesses speak up, even if it means losing their life. Lord, deliver me from the silence of self-preservation. -Bob Sorge

God values the lifestyle that appears foolish to the world so much that His Son came to the earth and walked it out for 30 years. -Mike Bickle
Sunday, June 02, 2013
The story of Jesus in Matthew begins with worship (Matthew 2:11) and it concludes with worship (Matthew 28:9, 17). That's the right response to Him. -Stephen Venable

Isaiah 49:15 “Can a woman forget her nursing child, and...the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, Yet I will not forget you.” God’s maternal instincts for you are stronger than your own mother’s. -Bob Sorge

This was the joy set before you, that you would have my heart forever. -Matt Gilman
Thursday, May 30, 2013
When hearing any sermon, our first priority is to look for a biblical connection to Jesus, then forge a clear action plan of application. How a sermon makes you "feel" in the moment is irrelevant, and actually unhelpful, if we take Paul's charge to "test all things" seriously. If our primary means of discernment is how sermons make us feel, we're in grave danger of being held captive to the seduction of sentiment. Have we built our understanding of Jesus around how He makes us feel or around who He really is? -David Sliker

The Lamb is the Ultimate Warrior, who fought and destroyed Satan on the cross. When you militantly engage the powers of darkness with all your being, you are just like your Master. Fight! -Bob Sorge
