The question is less "how do we build God a house?" The question is more, in seeing God, "how can we not worship?" -Derek Kistner

Christianity is impossible without the cross. Christian life revolves around coming to the cross and following the Crucified One. Our acceptance into God’s family begins at the cross, and the focus of Christian ministry is to preach the cross. Today’s pristine theological discourse leaves little room for the cross. Modern minds view the idea of atonement as barbaric and antiquated. Salvation did not come through an enlightened humanity but through the bloody sacrifice of a sinless Man on behalf of a shameful race. -Allen Hood

If the doctor said, take these pills daily for a year, or you will die. Would you? Everybody is disciplined if the stakes are high enough. Self-control is a response to what you believe to be at stake. Life is based on what you believe to be true and valuable. Really believe. -John Piper

All good, true, lasting theology can be boiled down to Jesus Christ and his cross (1 Corinthians 2:1–2). If the crucified Son of God is not at the very center of everything you believe about God, your theology has lost its balance, its anchor, and its meaning. No, we say with Paul, “Far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Galatians 6:14). -Marshall Segal

We do not desire to eat gravel. Why? Because God did not design us to eat gravel. Trying to develop an appetite for a disembodied existence in a non-physical Heaven is like trying to develop an appetite for gravel. No matter how sincere we are, and no matter how hard we try, it’s not going to work. Nor should it. What God made us to desire, and therefore what we do desire if we admit it, is exactly what he promises to those who follow Jesus Christ: a resurrected life in a resurrected body, with the resurrected Christ on a resurrected Earth. -Randy Alcorn

The infallible test of spiritual integrity, Jesus says, is your private prayer life. Many people will pray when they are required by cultural or social expectations, or perhaps by anxiety caused by troubling circumstances. Those with a genuinely lived relationship with God as Father, however, will inwardly want to pray and therefore will pray even though nothing on the outside is pressing them to do so. -Tim Keller

Jesus didn’t say, “John, I have appeared to you in order to establish you in your identity and show you who you really are.” Jesus said to John, “I am the Alpha and the Omega” Rev 1:11. John didn’t need a revelation of himself, but of Jesus Christ. Seeing Jesus has a way of settling all our identity issues. -Bob Sorge
