"This is the law of the burnt offering, of the grain offering, of the sin offering, of the guilt offering, of the ordination offering, and of the peace offering, which the Lord commanded Moses on Mount Sinai" (Lev 7:37-38)

The sacrifices were designed to maintain Israel's covenant. So also was the sacrificial death of Israel's Messiah.

"God exalted him at his right hand as Leader and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins." (Act 5:3)
